Experience

Zach Nunn attended Southeast Polk High School, graduating with top honors.  An active student leader he served as a Polk County Court youth advocate & mentor, became Supreme Court Justice at the American Legion’s Boys State, and founded the Lion’s SEP Leo Club charity, all while working a part-time job at the local Hy-Vee grocery store.

Zach's academic prowess and self-starter determination earned him a Presidential Scholarship to Drake University. He was soon selected by Governor Branstad to serve on Iowa’s Juvenile Justice Advisory Council, supporting state and community programs to improve youth offender rehabilitation.  Paying for college as a dormitory Residents’ Assistant and Legislative Clerk in the Iowa House, Zach competed as Drake’s Rhode’s Scholar, was a National Champion and All-American member of the Mock Trial Team, and graduated with Drake’s Top Senior Award. In May 2002, he graduated magna cum laude with dual degrees in political science and international relations.

Committed to the principles of a civic education, Zach took his first full-time job teaching American Government and US History with the Close-Up Academy. This experience imbued a deep dedication to educating all students, from academic all-stars to first generation and low-income Americans. Today, Zach continues to volunteer with this educational foundation and its critical mission to engage young voters with their community and government.

Over the next year, Zach worked as legislative staff to US Senator Grassley before selecting to serve the US Air Force. Balancing a full-time military career, then-Lieutenant Nunn completed a ‘night-class’ master’s degree at Cambridge University, England, graduating with first honors distinction – Cambridge’s highest academic mark.

He spent the next decade serving America’s intelligence community, safeguarding American ideals, and prosecuting its gravest threats. Most recently, Zach served as a professional, non-political advisor to the White House, as Director of Cybersecurity on the National Security Council.  Today, Zach works as an independent voice, championing private-public initiatives to safeguard America’s critical infrastructure. A seasoned counter-intelligence officer and cyber specialist, Zach’s has partnered with Fortune 500 CEOs, formed policy with Congressional leaders, and alerted the President’s national security team to imminent threats – and then recommended options to solve them.
